How are gambling losses calculated?
Net loss is the opening account balance plus deposits, minus withdrawals and the closing balance. Include every gambling account for the same period. Transfers between your own gambling accounts cancel out when both accounts are included.
A wager total is turnover: the same money may be staked again and again. It cannot tell you how much money you lost. Use real deposits, withdrawals and cash balances from your statements; leave out bonus funds that cannot be withdrawn.
The annual estimate extends your average monthly net loss over 12 months. It is a budgeting illustration, not a forecast or an investment return. Your actual future spending may be different.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need an opening balance?
Money already on your gambling accounts at the start belongs in the calculation. Without it, losing an existing balance would be missed. Enter zero only if every included account was empty.
What does a negative result mean?
It means a net gain for the period entered. The calculator keeps that sign and does not describe it as a loss. One profitable period does not predict future results.
Can I combine multiple accounts?
Yes. Add up deposits, withdrawals and cash balances across all included accounts for each month. Use one currency and avoid including just one side of an internal transfer.
Are my financial details saved?
Your entries stay in this page's memory and clear when you reload or leave the tool. The downloaded card contains your result, so choose where you save or share it.
